Vanessa Sandoval for City Council

South San José is a uniquely beautiful community, rich in diversity and culture, and surrounded by the peaceful nature of Coyote Valley. In 2011, my husband and I purchased a mobile home here with the hope that it would be our starter home. Over a decade later, we cannot afford to move our growing family.

As with any large city, San José is facing many growing challenges. We love our neighborhood and community, but home prices and rents have risen so high that families like ours are leaving San José every day. Our police and fire departments have been stretched far too thin for too long trying to keep our communities safe. Our open spaces are bustling and blooming, but they continue to be threatened by development and climate change.

I am choosing to stay because I know that San José’s innovative, entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond the tech industry – with the right leadership San José can be an affordable, clean, and safe city for all. Together, we can move our city forward by building more housing, creating compassionate solutions to homelessness, staffing up police and fire, building community trust with law enforcement, and protecting and maintaining our open space and parks.

I hope you will join me and vote for me to be your next District 2 Councilmember.
